Sri.P.D.Luke,veteran politician and one of the godfathers of Boat Race commentary was well known in the political,social,cultural and sports arena of Kuttanad for more tha five decades.
His contribution for spreading the popularity of Boat Race especially the famous Nehru Trophy Boat Race is a part of the history.During his educational life itself Mr.Luke entered political scenerio as a Cogress worker.Later he became a member of the Allapuzha District Congress commitee.He worked with veteran congress leaders like K.P.Madhavan Nair,K.M.Korah,etc.
He was one of the founder leaders of Kerala Congress.He was the district president of undivided kerala congress.At the time Kerala Congres was one of the leading political party in Kerala and in Allapuzha district itself it has several MLA's including the veteran farmer leader E.John Jacob.Mr.Luke was a candidate of the UDF in 1991.
He was born as the eldest son of Muttar Puthenpurackal Luka Devasia and Annamma on 29th November 1929.He had his elementary education from Vezhapra Govt. School and Pulinkunnu St.Joseph High School.He secured his bachelors degree in Physics from Changanacherry S.B. College and joined Kainakary St.Mary's School as a teacher.And then he joined Ernakulam Law College for his bachelors degree in Law.
